The Opinion of Others

images

With the invention of emoji images, we seem to rely an awful lot on what others may think… of what we think!

How often have you stood in front of a painting and went  Emoji-post-image5  or perhaps revolving-hearts  or   41EDjmgyn3L._SX425_ …  I know! Your thoughts cannot always be shared with others although the opinion of others is so important… Or perhaps you are one of the lucky ones where others’ opinion matters not a jot; lucky you are! Usually creators operate in a state of doubt which could, somewhere along the line, change into satisfaction and even joy at what emerges. Despite that, one person’s condemnation could shatter all our expectations. How crazy is that?!

We have just learned that the Royal Academy of ARTS in London have progressed to the next level of judging for the Summer Show and included in that selection are digital art and photography. My immediate reaction is  41EDjmgyn3L._SX425_   Really?

What has happened to real art? Or should I stay zipper-mouth-face_1f910  ? This remark will most probably evoke loads of tongue lashings regarding my ignorance… But, we are entitled to an opinion, are we not? Personally, I love photography – but at the RA? Someone will have to explain it to us…

OK, we shall leave that there for the moment.

We are halfway through registration for the 2018 Cyprus Open Studios event in October and many artists have not yet registered as they are still creating like mad. No problems – deadline is 30 June… which will make July a really crazy month! But no-one is complaining about that! Bring it on!!
