Staying in touch with art… by Kiara Timm
Dear Friends,
With March, Spring made its entrance with some rain and a hope for more sunshine. When thinking of March, what often comes to mind is not only the beginning of Spring, but also events that come along with it such as Women’s Day together with human and civil rights, the promotion of peace and such other ideals and values that are interconnected. Ideas and ideals that are or often expressed through the arts to motivate and to develop critical thinking, solidarity and the human value overall.
So let Spring embrace you and of course inspire you at a higher level, beyond yourself.
As always, stay well, stay positive and enjoy your reading!

Meeting a local artist…NATASA ANASTASIOU
A ‘renaissance’ artist and hands on creativity, Natasa is a visual artist and interior decorator. She creates – from abstract paintings and wall decor, to clay creations. She is also into jewelry design, clothing design and photography.
For the last 7 years, she creates acrylic pouring paintings and wooden side tables tops, with the same technique. She also creates abstracts with acrylic paints, spray paint and other mediums. The result is always unique and not possible to duplicate.
In addition, Natasa also took part in many exhibitions all over the island while her art works decorate private collections in Cyprus, Greece and Germany.
Natasa is working with an interior designer for more than a decade. They collaborate on various projects from interior/exterior design and landscaping, to designing furniture, lighting fixtures and home decor.
Like many artists, her art, is not only about expressing, but also about healing. As Natasa explains: ‘It doesn’t matter if you use a brush, a pencil or your hands – Art is good for the soul... Just make it!’

THE FOREST – ART AWAKING EXHIBITION AND EVENTS
The Arboreal Collective, in collaboration with the Lab for Animation Research, are presenting their first project entitled “Forest” at the NeMe Arts Centre.
Exploring the anatomy of selfhood through nature and technology may at first glance seem contradictory due to a long-standing narrative within contemporary culture that often focalises on a regressive relationship between science, the natural world, and people. Taking this as a point of departure, The Forest proposes a collaborative space that reimagines this relationship via an altered, modern, more hospitable lens that invites intimate expansion through healing.
Redressing imbalances on a cellular level is in some respects akin to the slow art movement philosophy, which calls for audiences to develop a more mindful relationship with art. In this vein, the project invited contributions by Cypriot and international artists that suggest gradual changes in these perspectives via an exhibition, educational talks, and interactive workshops. As a comparative study of people and trees, this exhibition continues to explore humanity and its complexities within the context of nature. Utilising new technologies such as artificial intelligence alongside a long-standing love of trees to create these conceptual transplantations, the project holds space for vital experiments to be made between the oldest and newest living beings.
